"Come as a guest, leave as a friend"

Manfred was in town and met an elderly couple from Brühl who didn't really know how to read their city map, so he asked them if he could help.
They wanted to go to the castle, and Manfred explained where they needed to go. Since he had time, he offered them a welcome, explained what it meant, and they immediately agreed.
They took a walk across the main market square to the castle, Albrecht Dürer Platz, Weißgerbergasse, Henkersteg, and the main market square. Hans and Hilde from Brühl were absolutely thrilled. Manfred gave them a food recommendation.

During our visit to Nuremberg, we not only enjoyed glorious weather, but were also fortunate enough to experience a greet with Astrid, assisted by Ruth. They each took turns, each in their own unique style, leading us to their favorite spots and sharing many interesting stories. It was always clear how much they loved their city and how excited they were to show it to their guests.

For our part, we were able to enjoy several of the city's gems that we would have missed on our own. From our hotel in the old town of St. Lorenz, for example, we visited the lovingly restored Kulturscheune (Culture Barn) and the Güldener Stern (Golden Star) inn, whose pig on the roof was also being polished to a high shine. We then continued via the White Tower and the Hans Sachs Fountain to the picturesque Pegnitz bridges, and made a detour into a secluded Baroque garden hidden behind the house on Johannisstraße. On our way through the upper old town and past St. Sebald, we discovered several houses with a beautiful little choir or a colorful house sign, and at the Holy Spirit Hospital, we slipped through the restaurant into the courtyard. There, in a peaceful corner, the venerable greats rest beneath their table tombs. And finally, we were treated to a final treat: We strolled into the city library, whose modern bookshelves served as a kind of city wall within the building. Hidden within their protection are the small tables of the newspaper café in the courtyard of the former monastery. In the green seclusion, we found the perfect place for a personal exchange, a chat among friends, just like the greeters.

Dear Monika, dear Paul,
We're still raving about your very informative and entertaining city tour. You complemented each other wonderfully—this could be a model for other greeter couples.
Until then, best wishes and many thanks again, (Susanne and fellow flute players, Monika, Paul and welcome greeters Ulrike and Walter, 25.5.01, Germany)

"During the three-hour tour, Astrid and Siggi brimmed with humorous, lively, and memorable stories about medieval Nuremberg. Thanks to your open nature and our shared curiosity, a lively exchange quickly developed. We wish the association and you all the best for the future!"

We had our greet with Barbara on April 19, 2025. She picked us up at the castle, where we were staying in the youth hostel, and was incredibly warm and friendly from the start. After just a short while, we felt like we were meeting an old friend again, rather than just meeting someone.

First, we went up to the castle, from where you have a fantastic view of Nuremberg. This gave us a panoramic view and some initial information about the castle and the city. From there, we headed toward Weißgerbergasse, where we could admire many well-preserved old houses. Afterwards, we strolled through the pedestrian zone, got shopping tips for my daughter and recommendations for good places to eat. She even showed us a wonderful chocolate shop.

Barbara gave us a great mix of information about the city of Nuremberg, including its historical background, as well as leisure activities. We finished our tour with a coffee together, and she offered to contact us anytime in the next few days if we had any questions.

We really enjoyed the greet and I can only recommend it.

As a Franconian from the Knoblauchsland region, I was very surprised at how little I know about Nuremberg's city history. The afternoon with the Honsels was absolutely wonderful for me: very funny, full of new things, great stories, and wonderful views. I enjoyed every minute and felt completely at home. Holger's knowledge is a treasure trove; it's incredible how much he knows and how he can tell such fascinating stories. Many thanks to both of you and the greeters for allowing me to experience my hometown from a completely different perspective.

Best regards, Anette

The day in Nuremberg became a special day thanks to our greeter Benedikt.
Right from the planning stage, we felt very well looked after and supported by him. Benedikt inquired about our ideas, was always approachable, and helped us a lot with his targeted tips and advice.
During his tour, we were able to get to know Nuremberg from a slightly different perspective than would have been the case with a standard tourist program.
We probably would have walked past not only the Künstlerhaus, but also the Hans Sachs Fountain (Marriage Carousel)—and would have missed something. And the photographic comparison of the Albrecht Dürer Memorial in 1945 with today was also impressive.
One day is far too short for a visit to the city of Nuremberg. We have Benedikt to thank for the special memories. Last but not least: The personal accompaniment to Saturday's FC Nuremberg match against FC Paderborn was unbeatable, a cultural program of a very special kind.
Thank you very much! We'd love to come back.

Greetings from Münsterland!

A heartfelt thank you to Barbara and Manfred for their wonderful tour, which was perfect for all of us: grandma, parents, two children, and a dog. We were well informed in advance about what might be of interest to us. And the children were also taken into account throughout the tour. It was truly fantastic; we felt very comfortable! It's a completely different experience to get to know a city so personally.
Thank you also for the great tips on the surrounding area. We didn't manage to do that this time. But now we're well prepared for our next trips.

I am very grateful to Wolfram and Siggi for their thorough preparation and their willingness to share interesting information about Nuremberg with me. I learned a lot from them. They went to great lengths to find Mr. Pachelbel's grave for me, for which I am infinitely grateful.

Germany feels like my home in Europe, thanks to the hospitality I've experienced on my travels and the kindness of the locals, including all of you. I've felt at home thanks to all of you and this beautiful country.

We'd like to thank you again for the Sunday stroll through the less crowded corners of Nuremberg, and especially for the many pleasant, informative stories and anecdotes. We had a great time. The conversation with you was very engaging. You were very well prepared.

You have done the Greeter System a great service and fully confirmed our expectations.

Hello,
What can I say? I'm still amazed by the beautiful city and your knowledge. You're a perfect tour guide; I learned and saw a lot.
Even the "climb" to the castle was quicker and easier thanks to Paul's conversation. To be honest, I didn't think I could do it, and it was worth it.
Benedikt's knowledge nicely complements the knowledge of Monika and Paul.
I would book the Greeters again at any time, perhaps soon in Hamburg, my hometown.
Thank you Monika, Paul and Benedikt.
Greetings back in Hamburg (Bianca)

The planned three hours turned into almost four and a half. Monika, Paul, and Benedikt simply took so much time for us. Even as a Nuremberg native, I still managed to learn a lot. My visitor from Hamburg was thrilled. The first recommendations have already been made (even during a chance encounter with other tourists along the way). The three of them have an infinite knowledge of Nuremberg—they definitely deserve a coffee and cake break! Thank you for a great morning! (Mirja)

Despite the cold, we were thrilled by the interesting and highly informative Nuremberg city tour with Susanne, Holger, and Manfred. Thanks to our guides' combined knowledge, we learned a lot about the city and its history. They also gave us plenty of tips for food, drinks, and photo stops.

Maybe we'll see each other again sometime. Your city is always worth a visit.

Best regards, Claudia and Wolfgang
