Our work in the context of the UN Sustainable Development Goals
Volunteering
Volunteering embodies lived solidarity and active civic engagement. It promotes social participation and contributes to strengthening local communities through personal commitment. In line with the IDGs, it demonstrates a sense of responsibility and intrinsic motivation to help shape a sustainable future.
Small groups of up to 6 people
Small groups of up to six people allow for personal interactions, foster genuine connections between guests and greeters, and avoid burdening the city. This supports the idea of respectful, slow-paced tourism in harmony with people and the environment.
Free of charge
Free access enables cultural participation for everyone – regardless of income or background. Greets create low-threshold learning spaces, promote social justice, and set an example for inclusion and a focus on the common good.
No discrimination
Greets are open to everyone – regardless of origin, gender, religion, sexual orientation, or social status. This non-discriminatory interaction strengthens social cohesion and promotes an open, inclusive, and diverse society.
Sustainable tourism
Greeters promote tourism that conserves resources, strengthens local structures, and is not focused on short-term profit. This deliberately alternative offering promotes long-term, resilient tourism development in line with global sustainability goals.
Cultural exchange
Cultural exchange is at the heart of every Greet encounter: guests and greeters learn from each other, break down prejudices, and experience diversity as enriching. This exchange strengthens intercultural competence and builds trust – a key prerequisite for a peaceful and just world.
